Seaford is a hamlet in the Town of Hempstead at the edge of Nassau's South Shore, and Seaford Creek marks the line between the Towns of Hempstead and Oyster Bay. Its best-known landmark is the Tackapausha Museum and Preserve, named for the 17th-century Massapequa sachem: Nassau County acquired the land in 1938 as its first nature preserve, partly to protect the Seaford Creek watershed from flooding.
