What changes the price of a new door?
Size. A double door is roughly the width of two singles but is one piece, so it costs less than two single doors — and it needs heavier springs and hardware.
Insulation. An insulated door adds about $445 on a single and $450 on a double in our price list. It's quieter, stiffer and keeps an attached garage warmer in winter.
Material. Steel is the value choice. Vinyl can't rust, which matters near the water. Wood is the heaviest and needs the most upkeep. Full-view glass doors are the most modern look and the most expensive.
Style details. Carriage-house panels, decorative hardware and window inserts all add to the cost.
What's behind the door. If the opening is out of square, the jamb is rotten, or the opener is too weak for a heavier new door, we'll tell you before you order — not after.
Which door type makes sense for your house?
- Attached garage, rooms above or beside it: an insulated steel door is usually the best value.
- Within a few blocks of the water: vinyl, or steel with corrosion-resistant hardware.
- Older house where looks matter: a carriage-house style door gives the look of a swing-out wood door without the weight.
- Modern house: full-view aluminum and glass.
Is it worth putting a new opener on with the new door?
If your opener is more than 10–15 years old, or it's a chain drive under a bedroom, replacing it at the same time saves a second visit. New openers start at $525 installed. The OPENER99 code takes $99 off a new opener. See opener installation prices.
Warranty on a new door
New door installations carry a 5 to 10 year installation warranty, depending on the door. The door itself also carries the manufacturer's warranty. We install doors from Clopay, Amarr, Wayne Dalton, CHI and other major brands.
New garage door cost questions
What does the NEWDOOR250 coupon take off?
It takes $250 off a new door installation. Mention it when you call.
Is removing the old door included?
Removing and hauling away the old door is priced separately, from $395, so you don't pay for it if you'd rather keep or dispose of the old door yourself.
Can I replace just a few panels instead of the whole door?
Often, yes. A single damaged section starts at $250, as long as the matching panel is still made for your door. If several sections are damaged or the model is discontinued, a new door usually makes more sense.
Does a heavier new door mean new springs?
A new door always comes with new springs sized for it. They're part of the installation, not an extra.
