LiftMaster problems we fix most
The remotes stopped working but the wall button works. Often the wall control's lock feature is on — it blocks remotes on purpose. Otherwise it's a dead remote battery or a remote that lost its programming. Programming a remote or car HomeLink starts at $89.
The light flashes and the door won't close. On LiftMaster openers, flashing lights when you try to close usually point to the safety sensors — one is out of line, dirty, or its wire is damaged. Realigning sensors starts at $89; a new pair at $175.
The motor hums but nothing moves. On chain and belt openers this is often the gear and sprocket inside the head, which wears out over time. A gear and sprocket kit starts at $225.
It stopped responding at all. A failed logic board or receiver ($175) or a motor capacitor ($95) are common causes once power and the outlet check out.
It reverses before it reaches the floor. The travel limit or close force needs to be reset, or something is binding in the track. Limit recalibration starts at $89.
Adding smart control to an older LiftMaster
You don't always need a new opener to use your phone. A MyQ smart hub ($145) adds app control to many LiftMaster openers made in the last couple of decades. We check compatibility before we install it.
Repair or replace your LiftMaster?
Repair when the opener is fairly new, the part is available, and the cost is a fraction of a new unit. Replace when it's an old chain drive that needs a second repair this year, when you want a quiet belt drive under a bedroom, or when you want Wi-Fi and battery backup built in. We'll tell you which way we'd go.
Warranty
A LiftMaster we supply and install has our 3-year warranty plus LiftMaster's own warranty once you register it with the manufacturer. If you bought the opener yourself, installation starts at $285 and our warranty covers the installation.
LiftMaster questions
What does the lock button on a LiftMaster wall control do?
It stops remotes and keypads from opening the door while the lock is on, for security. Press and hold it again to turn it off — check your wall control's label, since the button varies by model.
Can you program my car to open a LiftMaster?
Yes. We program HomeLink and car buttons along with remotes and keypads; programming starts at $89.
Do you carry LiftMaster parts on service calls?
We bring the common repair parts for LiftMaster openers. If an older model needs a part we don't have with us, we'll tell you how long it takes to get.
